can you fucking believe that this was voted one of the worst album covers of all time? seriously? the album sucks, but the cover? truly amazing. beautiful, even.

LA DI DA
maybe it's just the combination of baggy adidas tracksuit and ovation acoustic guitar, but i think i saw this dude busking outside the liquor store the other day. i love his reaction at the end. also, hanging your coat on your guitar while you play is kind of amazing.
erica ehm, god, remember her? was any dude in canada NOT in love with her in the 90's?
i just fucking love lee mavers' face, like cross between noel gallagher and the chicken lady.

THE NINTH GATE (1999)
this is a terrible trailer, by the way.
this movie has been criticized a lot, but i think most of the negative reviews have missed the point entirely. i just watched it for the 5th or 6th time and enjoyed it as much if not more than any previous time. there is a lot going on in this film, layers of symbolism, some obvious, some not so much. i would rank it among polanski's best (gasp!) and it's easily one of my favorite movies ever. classy.

CHILD POWER!
i loved this book when i was a kid, it's kind of fucked up, pretty dark. it's about a child prison run by a giant scary wrestler with fangs. really amazing illustrations by fritz wegner. i'm sure any kid in canada in the late 70's and early 80's who saw the movie version of this was as fucking terrified by it as i was. it still kind of creeps me out!
that shit is fucked up, right?
scary for kids (and me)!
